The role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for talented researchers with a keen interest in biomedical/public health research and a systematic and thorough approach to their work. A Senior Research Associate is required to join the multidisciplinary evidence synthesis team at Bristol Medical School. Line managed by Prof Julian Higgins, you will be part of Bristol Appraisal and Review of Research group in the Department of Population Health Science and will work closely with a Research Associate being recruited at the same time.

What will you be doing?

Your work will include taking a central role in an evidence synthesis of studies of interventions to prevent obesity in children. This will include systematic review work using Cochrane methodology, collation of individual participant data from randomized trials and contributions to patient/public involvement activities related to the project. In addition, you will work on systematic reviews on various other topics, working alongside international leaders in the field of systematic reviews, including the developers of the principal tools for assessing risk of bias in health research. There will be opportunities to contribute also to methodological projects.

You should apply if
  • You have a strong background in healthcare evaluation or related research
  • You hold a relevant PhD
  • You have excellent knowledge of systematic review methods
  • You have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • You can work and deliver to fixed deadlines.
