The University of Basel has an international reputation of outstanding achievements in research and teaching. Founded in 1460, it is the oldest university in Switzerland and has a history of success going back more than 550 years.
Your position
We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral researcher for the EuroHPC LIGATE project aiming to transform computational approaches for protein-ligand interactions. We will collaborate with leading European HPC centers, research institutes and industrial partners to develop fast and reliable computational drug discovery pipelines, for example for pandemic situations such as COVID-19.
The main focus Prof. Torsten Schwede's team at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel is on the development of computational methods for modelling of 3D protein structures and their molecular properties to better understand biological processes. Within the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, we develop SWISS-MODEL , a widely used web-based platform for generating high-accuracy 3D models of protein structures and complexes for application in life sciences.
In our research, we utilise AI methods to better guide protein modelling, analyse and visualise effects of sequence mutations in protein function and structure, and explore protein variation from an evolutionary perspective with particular interest in the dark proteome.
Responsibilities
Your profile
We offer you
The project is funded for 3 years. Our team and the interactive, highly innovative nature of the Biozentrum and of Life Sciences in Basel provide a stimulating environment that offers all the possibilities to be creative and highly productive. Basel is a city that provides a high standard of living and offers all the advantages of an international community.
