About the role

An exciting opportunity to join the newly established Australia China Science and Research Fund Joint Research Centre for Point of Care Testing (ACSRF JRC POCT) Research Project within the Faculty of Science at UTS for an enthusiastic researcher with expertise in design and establish protocols on DNA amplification, develop enzyme based DNA amplification technique for single DNA molecule detection, develop protocols for nanoparticle based DNA screening and multiplexing assays, develop protocols using microfluidics devices and imaging devices for single DNA sensing and quantification. This position is supervised by Distinguished Professor Dayong Jin.

About you
  • Doctoral qualifications in Biophotonics, Chemistry, Biomedical or Material Engineering with relevant supervision research experience.
  • Previous experience in research in an area relevance to DNA bioconjugation and characterization, digital PCR, and fluorescence microscopy.
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated expertise in one or several of these areas: surface modification, DNA amplification technology, PCR, biosensing, molecular biology, microscopy imaging, and bio-conjugation and staining.
  • Expert knowledge in DNA bioconjugation and characterization, fluorescence microscopy and circulating DNA based liquid biopsy testing.
  • Ability to undertake original research, as evidenced by timely and high-quality outputs
  • Provide quality research supervision, where eligible, for Higher Degree Postgraduate and Honours students
