As an Office Based Medical Affairs Director, you will be responsible for ensuring that all Medical Affairs (MA) physicians and scientists develop deep medical expertise on GSK medicines & vaccines, and all related relevant topics including but not limited to the diseases for which they treat or prevent, the competitive landscape, the payer/provider environment, and emerging data.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the US Medical Affairs Plan (UMAP) and the medical sections for the strategic launch plan for one or more medicines.
  • Contribute to defined US medical affairs work for a medicine(s), supporting global franchises, US medical affairs matrix team(s) and US medical commercial strategy team(s).
  • Lead planning and execution of medical tactics; contributes to medical material development, communication plans, application of customer insight
  • Integrate US environment needs and medical voice of customer (patients, providers, payers) into medical affairs strategy ensuring the US environment needs for medical and health outcomes evidence generation are represented and incorporated into the global medical work.
  • Recommend scientifically appropriate measures within health outcomes research over the lifecycle of the medicine(s) to meet US reimbursement needs.
  • Understand, interpret and apply the external environment and competitive knowledge in all medical plans and is able to define the medical story for the patient.
  • Provide input into the design of Phase IIIB/IV studies and selection of investigator sponsored studies in alignment with the global franchises.
  • In collaboration with field medical, lead/contribute to appropriate US scientific engagement between GSK and external communities in order to advance scientific and medical understanding including the appropriate development and use of our medicines, the management of disease, and patient care.
  • Partner with all stakeholders to ensure delivery of all assigned medical activities to support life cycle management, ensuring integrity of scientific content.
  • Apply sound medical governance for all activities.
  • Support the USMAL or Medical Affairs TAH as needed.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • PharmD, PhD, nursing, allied health professional (eg, epidemiology) or other scientific degree.
  • Industry experience in oncology

  • Medical Affairs experience


  • Well versed in US healthcare environment and needs of external customers.
  • Deep clinical and scientific understanding including how to design clinical studies for evidence generation and evaluate data.
  • Expertise in oncology and specifically women's cancer preferred
