You will join us to work on the design, assembly and characterisation of integrated electronic and silicon photonic devices towards state of the art, high-speed photonic data transmission.

The EPSRC funded project will be supervised by Professor Graham Reed, Dr Li Ke and Professor David Thomson who have strong, internationally renowned track records in the fields of silicon photonics and integration with CMOS electronics, and will involve interaction with an industry partner. The successful candidate will join a team of over 40 researchers focusing on the field of Silicon Photonics, based at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, UK.

To be successful you will have experience in analogue and RF IC and PCB design and the high-speed characterisation of electronic devices and hold a PhD* or equivalent qualifications and experience related to electronics. In addition you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ideally you will have experience and/or understanding of integrated photonics and knowledge of their integration with CMOS electronics. An understanding of high-speed SERDES and clock generators is also desirable.

The post will be for up to 3 years in duration due to funding restrictions.

*Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
