ARC Wessex is an organisation funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) with a remit to support applied health and care research that responds to, and meets, the needs of local populations and local health and care systems. The AHSN connects the NHS, universities, research, innovators and small businesses to help drive innovation into the health service, which benefits patients, saves the NHS time and money, and helps to grow the local economy.

The AHSN Insight Team supports people in the health and care system by generating insights which facilitate the identification, implementation and sustained adoption of innovation. Insights may come from local (Wessex-based) work, national programmes or academic sources.

The purpose of the post is to organise and undertake research activities to support, progress and contribute to the development and successful delivery of a project for the NHS Beneficial Changes Network.

The role would suit an individual who can organise their own research activities to a high-quality standard and to deadlines. Skills in using qualitative analytical software are also desirable. The post holder will need to be adaptable and flexible to work in a fast-paced changing environment, often with ambiguity. The successful applicant must have a PhD or equivalent qualifications and experience in Health Services Research, Social Science, or Implementation research.

The post is full time fixed term for 12 months and will be based at the ARC Wessex offices (Southampton Science Park). The post holder may be expected to travel across Wessex to meet with project teams and member organisations across the region. N.B. At the current time, all systems are set up for remote working while restrictions are in place due to Covid-19. The employing organisation is the University of Southampton which offers a competitive salary, pension scheme and other benefits.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact David Kryl D.Kryl@soton.ac.uk

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
