The role

The School for Policy Studies is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Criminology to expand and complement our current excellent teaching, research and impact activities in this area. The School has an exceptional reputation for teaching, research and public engagement and the appointee will join an ambitious and collegial School that pushes forward intellectual debates and real-world solutions to a range of policy and social dilemmas within an interdisciplinary environment.

What will you be doing?

The successful applicant will be engaged in research, teaching and administration. They will be expected to publish high quality outputs, gain grants, and engage in impact activity or public engagement. Teaching will be primarily within the UG Criminology programme on core and optional units, as well as contributing to other programmes across the School. They will supervise dissertation students, act as a personal tutor and co-supervise research students. The appointee will also be expected to take on an academic administrative role.

You should apply if

You have: expertise in criminology with a research profile that extends and enhances our current research; a record of high quality publications; evidence of the ability to gain external research funding as PI; demonstrable experience of delivering high quality lectures and seminars in a university context; evidence of the ability to carry out academic administrative duties effectively; excellent written and oral communication skills.; a completed PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline by the post start date of 01 August 2021.
