Position Details
Job Summary
The post-holder is responsible for providing primary research administration support to a large Research study (Wellbeing Investments in Schools and Employers) awarded to the University of Birmingham, funded via the Wellcome Trust.
The post-holder must have the ability to work in a busy research environment and cope with competing demands on their time.
The post-holder will provide effective administration support to the Principle Investigator and the research project team. The post-holder's role will involve liaison with academic staff, external contacts, research study participants and the funding body. The working relationship between the post holder and the academic staff is of paramount importance to the success of the project and wider team.
The post-holder will be involved in gathering and collating information for the project as required by the team, working with multiple different study stakeholders. This will potentially involve the management of large volumes of research data using a range of systems and databases.

Job Summary

The post-holder will be involved in gathering and collating information for the project as required by the team, working with multiple different study stakeholders. This will potentially involve the management of large volumes of research data using a range of systems and databases.
Main Duties
To provide a full range of research administration duties for the large research study. This could include:
- To act as the first point of contact for communication with the research group. This will be both for internal and external enquiries ensuring that correct protocol is observed, resolving most enquiries independently and escalating others where academic input is required.
- Coordinating and attending study meetings and other events, taking notes and meeting actions, and completing subsequent technical actions.
- Maintaining working relationships with all internal staff and external organisations on behalf of academic staff including academic staff and study participants.
- Collecting research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as contacting participants organisations during the assessment period, requesting information and documents from organisations; and maintaining study files in accordance with UoB procedures.
- Support the dissemination of research findings by the coordination of seminars and events, often involving senior external guests.
- Lead on the development and maintenance of the project website.
- Booking rooms, travel, and raising requisitions for study items/travel as required.
- Any other duties considered reasonable and commensurate within the grade of this role.
Person Specification
- Previous experience in a related research administrative role including support for research activity and handling high volumes of complex research data.
- Understanding of the processing and storage of data through databases administration and multiple data management programmes.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability and flexibility to successfully prioritise and address a demanding workload.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to deal with staff at all levels within the University, with external organisations and with study participants demonstrating a tactful and confident approach at all times.
- The ability to keep on top of large amounts of disparate information and maintain attention to detail.
- Experience of understanding and following key internal policies and external compliance requirements.
- Experience and understanding of research financial reports with the ability to explain documents of a range of contacts.
