Are you an academic with a proven track record as a research leader in Security Studies?

Are you able to use your expertise to support and complement our existing strengths in the School of Politics and International Studies?

Are you passionate about delivering an exceptional student experience in a research-intensive Russell Group University?

The School of Politics and International Studies (POLIS) at the University of Leeds is looking for a research leader in Security Studies. We would be particularly interested to see applications from scholars working in the areas of security, conflict, and governance. The School is keen to welcome applications from scholars with expertise in advanced quantitative research methods. That said, we are open to the most interesting, forward-looking profiles.

The School covers excellent research and teaching across the sub-fields of politics, international relations and international/global development, with an overarching focus on the politics of global challenges. In particular, we are keen to advance interdisciplinary approaches to the study of global security challenges both within the School and across the Faculty and University. The successful candidate will be expected to lead in their area of research, making important contributions to the School's strategic orientation, advance interdisciplinary initiatives from their areas of expertise, and help recruit and supervise our expanding postgraduate community.

The University of Leeds is a multi-cultural environment. We are truly committed to the values of equality, diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from all sections of society, but particularly encourage candidates with characteristics that are currently under-represented in the University of Leeds research and teaching staff including people from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds; people living with disabilities; LGBTQ+ people; and women. The successful applicant will be expected to work within University values and policies which promote dignity, diversity and inclusiveness.
