Kelly Science & Clinical is interviewing and hiring immediately for an experienced Textile Chemist in Rock Hill, SC! A great fit for this position has a BS in Textile Chemistry, post-graduate experience, and a desire to move into leadership positions in the future! This position is responsible for supporting research, development, technical, quality, and sales areas within the textile, fiber, and fiberglass industry. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a leader in innovative specialty chemicals offering competitive growth and benefits!

Essential Functions
  • Performs lab work using readily available data resources and repetitive tasks.
  • Applies standard test methods, techniques and product formulations, which requires the use of judgment in selecting alternatives
  • Conducts analysis, tests and experiments and interprets results.
  • Uses judgment to interpret data and communicate / present information and test results in a clear manner.
  • Performs specific research components of a larger project directed by a senior professional
  • Enters accurate and complete data into lab notebook and SAP as applicable.
  • Completing TSW requests and reports
  • Work with customers to solve issues and formulation of new products
  • Occasional travel to customer sites for product trials
  • Other tasks as assigned by management

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Textile Chemistry with 5+ years' experience
  • Master's Degree in Textile Chemistry with 1 - 3 years' experience
  • Experience in textile dyeing and finishing applications and testing

Qualifications
  • Experience with standard chemical laboratory equipment (Karl Fischer, HPLC, FTIR, TGA, DSC, AA, pH meter, etc.)
  • Experience with standard laboratory equipment (glassware, chemicals, etc.)
  • Able to support normal laboratory functions (lift up to 5 gallon pails, stand, sit, etc.)
  • Time management
  • Organization skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills - SAP, Lotus Notes, Excel
  • Good to excellent lab/analytical techniques
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Knowledge of SAP preferred
  • Experience with wet analytical test methods preferred
