The role
A Research Associate position is available to contribute to a high-profile collaborative project with the Bristol centre for agricultural innovation, the New Phytologist Foundation, and Professor Grierson's lab at the University of Bristol. This project involves research engagement and impact beyond academia and seeks to identify the important questions for plant science research through a public consultation and dissemination of these responses. With this project, we seek to engage with a wide range of individuals from industry, academia, funding bodies, horticultural, farming and conservation organisations to provide a collaborative space to identify and raise awareness of important issues in plant sciences today, such as sustainable agriculture and food security.
This is a unique opportunity to be involved in this collaborative work and conduct policy relevant research.

What will you be doing?
The Research Associate will work closely with project partners to contribute to the management and coordination of this project, this includes:
- Developing a social media/promotion strategy for the project.
- Monitoring and overseeing the project's website and curating publicly sourced questions.
- Assisting with the recruitment of a diverse panel.
- Systematically and comprehensively analyse data gathered via the consultation.
- Organise and participate in a series of structured focused groups, organising schedules for national and international panellist meetings to be held online.
- Prepare reports to disseminate results.
- The post holder will also be introduced to the management of the Bristol Centre for Agricultural Innovation, with a view to gaining experience and insight to all aspects of the organisation and its associated activities.
You should apply if
- You hold a relevant postgraduate qualification.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues with a wide variety of professional backgrounds.
- You have experience or a strong interest in social media/marketing.
- You have experience of working with/supporting others conducting research.
- You have strong organisational skills, including experience of handling large volumes of data and text.
- You are able to work as part of a team and to take directions from project leads, while also being able to organising your own time and work.
- You are able to present findings to academic and non-academic audiences.
