The role

Based in the Visual Information Laboratory at the University of Bristol, this is an exciting opportunity to join a strong team developing state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms in conjunction with an industrial partner. You will work on an Innovate UK-funded project to develop technology for the inspection of wind turbines using drones, led by Perceptual Robotics, a Bristol-based start-up company.

What will you be doing?

The post will involve developing computer vision algorithms for localizing captured inspection images and defects on the turbine surface. The work will build on previous projects between the industry partner and the University team, and it offers a unique opportunity to work on state-of-the-art techniques in the context of an exciting and entrepreneurial environment.

You should apply if

You will have at least a first degree and preferably a PhD in Computer Vision, Image Processing or a relevant discipline and have good experience of designing, developing and evaluating novel 3-D or 2-D computer algorithms. You should also be highly proficient in the relevant mathematical techniques and software development.
