The Department Biomedicine is one of the leading Life Science Research Departments of the University of Basel active in both basic and applied research. The Research Assistant will join the Developmental Genetics Research Group that studies the signalling interactions and molecular mechanisms controlling the progenitor and stem cells that give rise to organs and tissues in embryos. The research combines state-of-the-art genetic and molecular technology such as CRISPR/Cas9 genome-editing and genome-wide approaches with mouse models to study the gene regulatory networks that control organ development.

Your position
Mouse colony management, breeding, genotyping and embryo collection, and active participation in the ongoing research together with postdoctoral fellows and PhD students. Our research focuses on the analysis of genetically altered mouse embryos using transcriptome, epigenetic and protein biochemistry. The position also includes lab management duties.

Your profile
Applicants must have completed an apprenticeship as molecular biology research technician (Laborant/in) and/or hold a BSc/MSc in molecular biology and must have excellent skills in molecular biology. Prior expertise in using mouse models and/or transcriptome/analysis will be an asset for the position. Preference will be given to applicants with certification for animal experimentation (LTK1 or FELASA certification) and track record in molecular biology using mouse models. The working language is English, however, knowledge of German is also required.
