The Marketing and Communications Unit (MCU) takes the lead in developing strategies and relationships to build the UTS brand in order to achieve its desired prominence in the market place. It is responsible for effectively promoting and enhancing the image and reputation of the university through the development and implementation of marketing plans, media and public relations activities, internal communication and corporate identity strategy. MCU has both internal and external clients and delivers services to support them and to promote the overall strategic development of the university.

The unit is seeking to fill a current vacancy for the Marketing and Communications Manager, Faculty of Arts and Social Science. The role is responsible for creating marketing and communications strategies for the Faculty, as well as implementing and managing a broad range of tactical activities relating to the promotion of education, student recruitment, industry engagement and outreach, faculty and university reputation management, research and media relations.

The incumbent will provide expert marketing advice to the Faculty including research based insights and will align the marketing strategy with Faculty's objectives. Working in collaboration with the Faculty via a service level agreement with the Marketing and Communications Unit (MCU), this position is required to translate UTS brand and vision into activities relevant to the Faculty in order to promote the Faculty's image in a highly competitive environment.

The Marketing and Communications Manager will be embedded in the Faculty of Arts and Social Science within the university. They will be responsible for delivering a strategic marketing and communication service that is responsive to the Faculty's requirements but balanced with central UTS strategy and brand. Their skillset should also be responsive to the faculty's strategy and marketing and communications plan.

Detailed Description

Main skills/experience required:
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a range of marketing and communication strategies.
  • Effectively manage budgets in a resource intensive environment. Proven management skills, including the ability to lead a team to meet competing deadlines under pressure and maximise results from marketing resources.
  • Ability to contribute to and manage the implementation of policy, guidelines and procedures, including experience in developing and presenting reports and strategic advice to the faculty
  • Ability to work effectively, independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in analysis and evaluation, establishing a measurement framework and writing marketing reports.
  • Ability to conduct a variety of research activities to evaluate competitors, student expectations, and brand recognition with view to informing future marketing actions.
  • Advanced computing skills including Microsoft Office applications, databases, CRM and associated software (Salesforce highly desirable).
