Location: Minneapolis, MN or Indianapolis, IN
Company: Workplace Learning Solutions

At Wiley, we welcome you for who you are, the background you bring, and embrace individuals who get excited about learning whether online or by book. Learning is for everyone, and so is our workplace. Bring your experiences, your perspectives, and your passion. It's in our differences that we empower the way the world learns.

We're looking for a Development Editor to join the Dummies team, creators of trusted guides for learning and skill-building. In this role, you will help to develop titles in the For Dummies product line, bringing your editing, project-management, and relationship-management skills to bear to shepherd titles through the publication process.

How you will make an impact:

As a Development Editor, you will work with authors to develop an outline, shape the structure and flow of the book, problem solve, and edit each title, keeping the Dummies positioning and style in mind. The editing process will range from big-picture considerations to line editing to copyediting. You'll communicate and coordinate with authors as well as reviewers and other members of the publishing team. You'll also be responsible for managing schedules and hand-offs, while working on multiple titles simultaneously.

We are looking for people who:
  • Have at least 1 year of professional writing or editing experience.
  • Have excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Have good time-management skills.
  • Have strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work in a team-based organization.
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or a related field preferable.
