Job Description

The Medical Director, Rheumatology will develop long-term relationships with a wide variety of key healthcare stakeholders and customers to include Medical Groups and key opinion leaders in order to demonstrate clinical and economic value of Pfizer's Xeljanz in the treatment of RA, PSA, pcJIA, and AS. These activities are implemented to help inform HCPs and formulary decision-makers through medical presentations, pharmacoeconomic analyses, and outcomes evaluations along with MOS and FMD colleagues. Additional customer collaborations are built with the goal of aligning corporate medical priorities with the specific needs of the customer to advance the quality of patient care in areas of mutual interest, to identify provider and/or patient knowledge gaps, and areas for quality improvementinterventions. They will develop, in conjunction with rheumatology team members, an advanced perspective of the evolving clinical and healthcare landscape of rheumatology .

The Medical Director will utilize his/her understanding of clinical and patient-directed rheumatology issues to help assist Pfizer and GMA on the most strategic approach to medical development of Xeljanz throughout various stages of the life cycle in RA, PsA, pcJIA, and launch in AS. The Medical Director will also provide Pfizer brand teams with customer and clinical insights to assist in informing Pfizer strategies on critical rheumatic health issues and facilitate the development of customer-focused toolsand medical communications to support patient access to quality medicines.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate in reviewing & approving promotional materials, ensuring fair balance
  • Collaborate with cross functional constituents from Commercial, MOS, FMD, GH&V, RWD to drive US strategic direction for the Brand
  • Ability to plan and lead successful advisory boards, congress-related symposia & congress planning
  • Ability contribute to Publication Planning, data generation activities and other medical/scientific activities related to informing HCPs on proper use of Xeljanz in RA, PsA, pcJIA, AS
  • Serve as a reliable, trusted source of accurate and scientific knowledge for Xeljanz data, disease state, product label and competitive data sets for clinical trials in rheumatology
  • Participate in developing and maintaining HCP engagement plans for HQ medical affairs


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD.,PharmD.,DVM or equivalent professional degrees with 7+ years of experience in eitherthe pharmaceutical industry, academic centers, clinical practice or a combination of these; Knowledge of pharmaceutical space in rheumatology
  • Experience in clinical development or Phase IV/IIR trial management a plus
  • Relationship builder within and outside of Pfizer
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Team oriented for success
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Specialty training, board certification, patient care and/or medical affairs experience in rheumatology is preferred.
