The role

The School for Policy Studies is seeking to appoint a teaching focused Lecturer in the area of social policy. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, ambitious and collegial School that pushes forward intellectual debates and real-world solutions to a range of policy and social dilemmas within an interdisciplinary environment.

What will you be doing?

The successful applicant will be engaged in teaching, scholarship and administration. They will be expected to deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, primarily within our programmes on Social Policy, International Social and Public Policy, and Public Policy, on core and optional units. They will supervise dissertation students, act as a personal tutor, and may co-supervise research students. They will take on an administrative role appropriate to the level of appointment and the initiative in developing and delivering new education-related initiatives.

You should apply if

you have: an interest in developing a teaching-focused academic career; expertise in social policy with an ability to teach across core and optional units relating to social policy, welfare, and inequalities; demonstrable experience of delivering high-quality lectures and seminars in a university context; evidence of the ability to carry out academic administrative duties effectively; excellent written and oral communication skills; enthusiasm to innovate and lead on educational initiatives; a completed PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline by the post start date of August 1st.
