Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated analytical (bio)chemist to join the Hit Discovery & Optimization group in Groton, CT. As part of this group the successful applicant will play a key role in developing, optimizing, and supporting molecular property and biopharmaceutical screens to enable rapid decision making in support of the Worldwide Research and Development (WRD) portfolio

Role Responsibilities
  • Use a broad range of separation, spectroscopy, and analytical detection techniques (UV, MS) to meet project challenges and to deliver compound property data in support of key decision making
  • Conduct high throughput biopharmaceutical and molecular properties screens of new chemical entities in support of Drug Discovery and formulation efforts
  • Troubleshoot, modify, and optimize existing assays
  • Ability to analyze and interpret generated data and to present within working group
  • Build effective partnerships within department and with other research lines, in particular analytical, technology and pharmaceutical sciences, to develop novel assay solution
  • Use robotics and automation in the performance of screening.
  • Comply with all safety, scientific record keeping and good laboratory practices.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in relevant science (e.g. analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences) with at least 2 years experience in industrial drug discovery setting.
  • Solid knowledge and ability to operate analytical techniques such as HPLC-MS, MS/MS, and spectroscopy
  • Experience with developing, executing, and troubleshooting plate-based molecular properties, pharmaceutical assays and instrumentation
  • Excellent computer, verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with automation and liquid handling systems will be a plus
  • Experience with a wide variety of software and information systems (e.g. electronic lab notebooks, Empower/MassLynx/Chemstation/Leadscapeand LIMS) is a plus


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The candidate is expected to do routine lab work in bioanalytical labs. Sitting, standing, lifting, bending, and walking. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and complex data analysis. A bility to lift 1 gallon reagent bottles comfortably is required.
