Transportation Research Group

You will be responsible for the development and application of primary research to examine the barriers and incentive to using MaaS and to initiating travel behaviour change. You will also examine the scope for MaaS to provide information to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions and improve air quality. It is expected that the research will involve both revealed preference and stated preference data.

In addition, you will liaise with other academics at the Universities of Portsmouth and Southampton working on the iterative inclusive design of MaaS, the impacts of MaaS on travel behaviour and the optimisation of the MaaS algorithms. The findings and methods developed are expected to be of sufficient scientific novelty and application that they will lead to publications in leading transport scientific journals. You will disseminate the research findings at project meetings, international conferences, and industrial events. You will be responsible for supporting general research activity at the University of Southampton and encouraging PhD, MSc and Undergraduate students in related research activity.

To be successful you will have a PhD* (or equivalent research experience) in travel studies including behaviour analysis or a closely related topic. You will demonstrate your ability to conduct independent research, with a publications track record to match, and the ability to work with other academics, local and central Government and industry. You will be able to perform effectively with conflicting priorities and time constraints, possess good organisational and time management skills, pay close attention to detail, and have excellent interpersonal skills. Existing experience of MaaS will be an advantage.
