The role
We are looking to recruit a talented, enthusiastic, and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to investigate the effects of dengue virus infection on the host cell lipidome. We have undertaken a high-throughput mass-spectrometry-based lipidomic analysis of dengue virus-infected cells and now aim to validate and further investigate the role of key lipids and lipid synthesis pathways in dengue virus replication with the longer-term vision of turning them into suitable drug targets.
What will you be doing?
As an integral lab member, you will investigate the requirement for key lipids in dengue virus replication by knock-down of key lipid synthesis pathways, localisation, and further quantitation of lipids. The effects of depleting key lipids on dengue virus replication will be assayed by various molecular and virological techniques. The project is supported by access to the Faculty of Life Sciences and Sciences' outstanding research facilities, including the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Facilities and the Wolfson Bioimaging Facility.
You should apply if
Candidates should have a PhD in Virology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or Biochemistry. Experience in mammalian cell tissue culture, RNAi/CRISPR-Cas9 for gene knockdowns and general molecular biology and/or molecular virology techniques are highly desirable. The successful candidate should furthermore have a keen interest in viral-host interactions and excellent communication skills.
