Do you have a PhD in the area of micro-economics, regulation or transport economics?
Are you passionate about working closely with industry and academic partners to develop new research ideas that generate high-quality, impactful publications in a research-intensive Russell Group University?
We are seeking applicants with a strong background in regulation or transport economics particularly supply-side economics, covering areas such as cost modelling, efficiency analysis, and the study of different transport project delivery models on project performance. You will be working on a highly impactful £16million Transport Infrastructure Efficiency Strategy (TIES) Living Lab project which aims to ensure large transport infrastructure projects are completed on-time, and on-budget, whilst securing the benefits expected.
Joining an internationally leading team of applied transport economists at the Economics and Appraisal Research Group at the Institute for Transport Studies, you will contribute to the Institute's research in economics where policy impact is at the core of our research. For example, the Institute is the academic lead for the CQC Efficiency Network, a benchmarking network dedicated to enhancing the cost performance of local highways authorities. We have strategic research partnerships with SNCF Reseau and the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) among others in the area of transport economics with particular focus on cost analysis. This is in addition to our portfolio of several Horizon 2020 and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) projects.
Within the TIES Living Lab the Institute leads a project concerning what drives project performance. You will be a key researcher seeking to establish the economic drivers of cost and construction duration time using econometric analysis. You will work with other academic partners as well as stakeholders from the main national infrastructure managers in Britain and the supply chain.
You will have a PhD in the area of regulation, micro-economics or transport economics. Additionally, you will be able to demonstrate an emerging track record of peer-reviewed publications in good quality journals in the field.
