The Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Group (Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel and University Hospital Basel) is seeking a Master's degree or Ph.D. level bioinformatician. Our group is devoted to finding better therapies against malignant brain tumors, and to characterize the brain tumor microenvironment using spatial multiomic tools in patient samples and animal models. Our strength lies in the translational capacity of having access to human samples and directly impacting patient care.

Your position

  • computational analysis of -omics experiments, including expression studies (using "bulk" and single-cell RNA-seq)
  • set up robust and reproducible workflows to standardize analyses
  • integration of multidimensional datasets including clinical parameters, high-dimensional flow-cytometry data, cytokine data and multiplexed imaging analysis
  • help with data interpretation and contribution to manuscript writing


Your profile

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics, physics, or mathematics with strong interest in biology
  • demonstrated experience in analyzing next-generation sequencing or other high-throughput biological datasets
  • experience with analysis of high-throughput proteomics experiments, multicolor flow cytometry (Cytof/Aurora) and spatial transcriptomics is a plus
  • sound statistical knowledge and fluent programming skills using R/Bioconductor are essential
  • excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • proficiency in written and spoken English
