At Wiley, we welcome you for who you are, the background you bring, and embrace individuals who get excited about learning whether online or by book. Learning is for everyone, and so is our workplace. Bring your experiences, your perspectives, and your passion. It's in our differences that we empower the way the world learns.

Are you passionate about driving a great publishing experience? Wiley's Editor Engagement team is looking for a strategic communicator to encourage and educate journal editors about the impact they can have, and the need to continuously evolve in their role.

The Manager, Editor Engagement is a pivotal role for the Research business, responsible for aligning external editorial teams with the initiatives that will ensure success in the author-focused future of scholarly publishing and supporting Wiley's vision for growth and workflow efficiencies.

This will require active engagement around article transfer networks, improved infrastructure and workflows, and the transition to an article-based economy. The role holder will work independently to craft content and training resources, and will lead events large and small which engage and motivate, and provide us with actionable insights into editors' experiences, concerns, and challenges.

Editor Engagement is a communications program with a mission to ensure external editors are aware of Wiley's strategy and the drivers behind it, and are ready, supported, and motivated to be successful in their role. The program is growing in strategic importance as we seek to bring editors with us on a journey focused on great author service, efficiency, and growth. The role holder will work with the other members of the Editor Engagement team but will have a specific focus on supporting infrastructure improvements.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and driving referral networks and will understand the connection between the move to an article-based economy and the need for improved infrastructure and author service. They need to be able to tell this story using their own experience to provide the background, motivation, and resources to make positive change across Wiley's journal portfolio.

How you will make an impact:
  • Develop a plan for resources and events required based on own knowledge, market research, and colleague consultation
  • Host online events and smaller workshops focusing on the future of publishing.
  • Independently create compelling content in multiple formats
  • Facilitate online discussions between editors to enable the sharing of ideas, examples and best practice
  • Be a committed member of the team, contributing ideas to the program overall and representing the team as needed

We are looking for people who:
  • A self-starter who can develop a plan and deliver on it
  • A great communicator through written and spoken channels. You must be able to create concise, compelling copy in a variety of formats
  • Confident running workshops of around 30 attendees, online and likely some in person events in the future
  • Able to use their experience working with editors to create meaningful content and resources
  • Experienced in the rationale and practicality behind article referral and transfer, and infrastructure/workflow improvements
  • A good listener with an ability to critically assess information to understand underlying challenges or resistance, and respond appropriately
  • Able to think creatively about the best ways of sharing information to achieve objectives
  • Comfortable working on projects alone and as part of cross-functional teams
