Research Fellow for Silicon Optomechanical Levitated Sensors

You will join our team and work with Dr Jize Yan and Professor Hendrik Ulbricht on an EPSRC Project: Integrated levitated optomechanical gravimeter. Your primary role will be to work on the design, fabrication and characterisation of integrated photonics devices towards state of the art silicon levitated optomechanical sensors.

To be successful you will hold a PhD* degree (either awarded or nearing completion) or equivalent qualifications and experience related to photonics, physics or related fields. It is essential that you are able to demonstrate that you have experience in cleanroom fabrication and device characterisation. Ideally, you will also have hands-on experience of:

* on-chip photonics design, sensor development and packaging;

* levitated optomechanics, light driving mechanisms and underlying physics.

*Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.'.
