How you will make an impact:

Wiley is looking for a motivated, dynamic Operations Assistant to join our Melbourne-based Research Publishing team.

In this role you will assist to implement key business processes in the Content Review team. The Content Review team is responsible for ensuring efficient and ethical peer review for Wiley journals. Your role would involve driving process improvements, compiling data and reports, and tracking project progress to ensure successful completion.

Your other responsibilities include:
  • Up-date and coordinate journal reports for internal and external clients
  • Coordinate and organise presentations for journal bids, board and other editor or society meetings
  • Provide administrative support to the team
  • Support the Managing Editor to share and communicate knowledge and updates across the Research organisation
  • Collaborate with the Editorial, Marketing and Sales teams for seamless execution of new process implementation and improvements.
  • Maintain the manuscript peer review process for a small portfolio a number of proprietary and/or society journals
  • Network and build relationships globally to collaborate on projects and share knowledge
  • Keep abreast of current Market & Industry trends to feed-back ideas and instigate new projects.

This is an initial 12 month contract role with the potential to be extended.

We are looking for someone who is interested in:
  • Gaining experience in the scholarly publishing industry.
  • Working in a team that is passionate about communicating cutting-edge global research,
  • Developing skills working in a global team environment.

Below is a list of other skills/ qualifications you possess:
  • BSc degree qualification or equivalent
  • Experience in an administration role
  • Strong networking skills to leverage relationships to solve problems
  • Ability to create reports and analyse data to inform decision making
  • Ability to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite, Excel in particular
  • Aptitude to quickly learn in-house systems and programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Desirable -
    • Experience in the Publishing Industry
    • Advanced Excel skills
    • Experience using Cognos
    • Experience using ScholarOne Manuscript Central or another peer review management application
