Full time starting salary is normally in the range £30,942 to £40,322, with potential progression once in post to £42,792

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Teaching Fellow on a fixed-term contract (maternity cover) to contribute to the leadership and delivery of teaching related to sport pedagogy, sport development, and physical education on our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.

Summary of Role
The post holder will make a substantial contribution to the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduates degree programmes in the areas of physical education and sport coaching. This will include face-to-face, online and practical delivery of learning. In addition to this, the post holder will act as a personal tutor to students supervise student research projects.
Opportunities will be provided for the appointed candidate to develop themselves through leadership opportunities and ongoing professional development in higher education.

Main Duties
- Teach courses at a range of levels to undergraduates, postgraduates, and CPD students, so that the School's teaching objectives are met.
- Use of appropriate approaches to learning and teaching in their field.
- Contribute to the design of modules with other colleagues.
- Plan and prepare own teaching, including guidance notes and handouts in accordance with the established objectives of the teaching programme.
- Develop online learning materials and resources to support module delivery.
- Devise and deliver practical work to link students' theoretical knowledge to practical application in physical education and sports coaching.
- Plan and review their own educational practice.
- Undertake a full range of responsibilities in relation to supervision, marking, and examining.
- Frequently update own subject expertise.
- Act as a personal tutor to students.
- Undertake personal professional development, including self-reflection on own teaching, using student and peer review feedback, to enhance own teaching and learning processes.

Essential
- Higher degree in a discipline related to sport pedagogy
- Experience in qualitative or mixed methods research design and data analysis
- Experience in delivering undergraduate/postgraduate learning and teaching
- Experience in assessing undergraduate/postgraduate learning
- Ability to design and deliver module materials successfully
- Ability to assess and organise resources effectively
- Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader programme administration processes
- Ability to work successfully in a team environment
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
Desirable
- PhD in related discipline
- Experience in designing, building, and delivering online learning materials
- Experience in supervising undergraduate/postgraduate research projects
- Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day-to-day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly.
