Full time starting salary is normally in the range £30,942 to £40,322, with potential progression once in post to £42,792

Background

The postholder will contribute to the planned validation and implementation of the Women's Risk Needs Assessment tool in selected Corstonian Women's Centres in England as part of the JABBS funded project 'Trauma, Social Harm and Health in Criminal Justice-Involved Women: The Women's Risk Needs Assessment Validation Research Study'.

This is an exciting opportunity for the postholder to be part of a study that will test the accuracy of the WRNA with criminal justice-involved women in England for the first time. The resulting data will allow comparison between countries, areas, and sub-populations, aiding the efficacy of evidence-based policy and development of best practice across the Women's sector in England.

Job Summary

The postholder will work as part of the 'Trauma, Social Harm and Health in Criminal Justice-Involved Women: The Women's Risk Needs Assessment Validation Research Study'.

Main Duties

The role will include, but will not be restricted to, the following key responsibilities:
  • To construct spreadsheets to extract data from Noble assessment software
  • To clean quantitative data and prepare for analysis
  • To link project data to Ministry of Justice datalab criminal convictions/outcomes data
  • To perform quantitative analyses of the WRNA data and to determine the predictive validity of the WRNA
  • Undertake management/administration arising from research
  • Contribute to Departmental/School research-related activities and research-related administration
  • Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
  • Provide guidance, as required, to support staff and any students who may be assisting with the research
  • Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
  • Promote equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • First degree in area of specialism and, a higher degree relevant to research area (or near to competition)
  • High level of quantitative data analysis skills
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly
  • Fluency in statistical models, techniques, or methods and ability to contribute to the development of analytical models
  • Understanding of data management and data protection practices
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes
  • Contribute to the planning and organising of the research project
  • Ability to present research findings to a range of audiences (academic, policy, and layperson)
  • Co-ordinate own work with others to avoid conflict or duplication of effort
  • Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day to day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly
