Role Summary

Pfizer's Non-Malignant Hematology Research focuses on developing multiple therapeutic approaches to develop new therapies for rare disease. The Rare Disease Research Unit is part of Pfizer's Biotherapeutics in Pfizer Worldwide R&D. The candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team partnering closely with the RDRU Biology and colleagues and be responsible for delivering high quality data to project teams. This particular role will have a strong focus on implementing in vivo translational pharmacology nonclinical studies across multiple therapeutic modalities to support portfolio entry and early portfolio advancement working in close collaboration with project teams and partner lines. Applicants must have experience in wide range of in vivo skills and in vitro assays. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, dynamic laboratory scientist with demonstrated experience and expertise working with in vivo models of disease and in vitro assays to contribute to and support project advancements in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Independently develop execute on in vivo models to evaluate potential therapeutic candidates across multiple modalities.
  • In collaboration with project teams obtain or generate appropriate nonclinical animal models to evaluate new targets or therapeutics and characterize the phenotype new animal models.
  • Execute on in vitro cell based and biochemical assays, including the development and implementation, to evaluate potential therapeutic candidates.
  • Generate and interpret data for presentation at project meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partner lines.
  • Work with external collaborators and Contract Research Organizations.


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in the life sciences with preferably >2 years of post-doctoral experience in an academic or biopharma/biotech setting.
  • Scientific training and hands-on experience with in vitro assays, including cell-based assays and in vivo animal model development and assessment.
  • Evidence of scientific accomplishments in the form of publications and presentations.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently, as well collaborate as part of internal and external cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to multi-task multiple projects with overlapping timelines.
