Background
The postholder will assist in conducting a National Institute for Health Research-PHR-funded study: the FUEL study. This mixed-methods study aims to evaluate the implementation and impact of the national school food standards and school food plan in secondary schools and their pupils. The study commenced in 2019 and school recruitment and data collection are ongoing. Part of the study involves the collection of an extensive amount of data from schools, staff and pupils. This data will be used to explore the school food environment and how supportive this is of healthy eating. The postholder will have a specific role in supporting the other team members in managing and analysing this data. In addition, they will assist in all aspects of the study, including recruitment, data collection, data entry and preparation of outputs for dissemination.

Job Summary

- Management and analysis of different types of data obtained from schools, staff and pupils
- Assisting in recruiting secondary schools and pupils
- Support qualitative and quantitative data collection and entry
- Assisting in preparing presentations, reports and other outputs
Main Duties
- Collate, organise, manage and analyse data from schools, school staff and pupils relating to assessment of implementation of the national school food standards and school food plan
- Assist in recruitment of schools and pupils
- Assist in qualitative and quantitative research data collection and data entry
- Assist in preparing research outputs, including presentations, posters, papers and reports
- Provide guidance as required to sessional or support staff and any students who may be assisting with research
- Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
- Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research
- Promote equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
- High classification degree or equivalent in relevant field
- Practical experience of managing and analysing a range of data types
- Practical experience of data collection with study participants
- Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of people, including, children, parents and other professionals (e.g. teachers)
- Ability to access and organise resources successfully
- Ability to produce high quality presentations and written reports
- Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day to day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly
