Documentation of cleft morphology is an integral part of a life-long treatment of patients with cleft lip and palate. The impressions are needed in cases of presurgical orthodontic treatment and are a standard procedure preceding surgery to document the malformation. Despite the risks involved with conventional impressions, they are still widely performed in children. Instead in dentistry, optical impressions are routinely used for adult patients.

Our aim is to investigate the implementation of an intraoral scanner for the youngest patients with cleft lip and palate and would like to study the feasibility of that procedure.
