The UTS Marketing and Communication Unit (MCU) is recruiting for an Internal Communication Officer to manage communication and outreach activities that:
  • enhance UTS's reputation with either staff or students
  • encourage advocacy, engagement and a sense of community amongst these audiences, and
  • support the university's ambition to be known as a world-leading university of technology.

Detailed Description

MCU takes the lead in developing strategies and relationships to build the UTS brand to achieve its desired prominence in the marketplace. It's responsible for effectively promoting and enhancing the image and reputation of the university through the development and implementation of marketing plans, media and public relations activities, internal communication and corporate identity strategy.

If successful in applying for this role, you will:
  • Develop, maintain and measure the effectiveness of owned channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and news websites.
  • Create communication programs and strategies to promote UTS's news and achievements via various channels.
  • Prepare and distribute key communication materials for target audiences.
  • Measure and evaluate the success of internal communication activities and recommend improvements/alternative approaches.
  • Build strategic relationships with and provide strategic communication advice to internal clients.

To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Have a degree with at least 4 years' subsequent relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training).
  • Be creative, adaptable and agile.
  • Be an experienced and passionate content creator.
  • Have demonstrated professional liaison, negotiation and diplomacy skills, including the ability to liaise with senior staff.
  • Be digitally literate with experience across web-based platforms, HTML, social media, content management systems and Microsoft Office programs.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in a variety of formats and technologies, from social media to websites and traditional article writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Strong digital literacy skills, including experience with web-based platforms, HTML, social media, content management systems and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with effective internal communication strategies and approaches, including digital, social and traditional platforms, tools and channels.
  • Successful record of developing and managing, or executing communication initiatives and campaigns within a large organisation.
