Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

You will work with Dr Huahui Zhao and Dr Yen Dang, lecturers in language education in the School of Education, to support, develop and collaborate on their research project.

This project will investigate how teaching, learning and assessment in higher education could impact the predictive validity of IELTS scores for academic achievements for postgraduate studies. To be specific, it will examine whether and how (a) the language demand by the IELTS tasks differs from postgraduate studies and (b) the language and assessment support provided for postgraduates might affect the predictive validity of IELTS for postgraduate studies.

The project will employ mixed research methods: corpus-based approach to identifying the vocabulary required by IELTS and postgraduate assignments, corpus-based approach to analysing postgraduate assessment feedback, content analysis of assessment criteria and focus groups with participants from different disciplines.

With a relevant degree and experience of quantitative and qualitative research you will deal with a wide range of data and participants. You will possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to deal with a variety of tasks. The ability to work alone or as part of a team are essential, along with strong organisational and time management skills.
