The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, services, and education and training at the local, national and interna-tional level. About 850 people from more than 80 nations work at Swiss TPH focusing on infectious and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health as well as health systems and interventions.

The Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH) of Swiss TPH provides policy advice, project de-sign and management in the area of national and global health with the aim to strengthen health sys-tems and improve health service delivery.

Your position
  • Support project implementation in the field of nutrition and food systems, as well as health systems
  • Lead implementation research (e.g. baseline/endline surveys, assessments, evaluations) in the frame of long term nutrition and health system strengthening mandates
  • Actively develop our nutrition and food systems portfolio
  • Contribute to business development activities
  • Support project communication work, namely knowledge management and dissemination


Your profile
  • 5-8 years' experience in nutrition and public health, or nutrition and food systems
  • Master's Degree in nutrition, Diplomas related to epidemiology, statistics, or public health an asset
  • Experience in working in different cultural settings, with respect and diplomacy
  • Excellent English and French language skills ( Excellent written and spoken French is a condition)
  • Willingness and availability to travel, several times per year, including on short notice
  • At least 3 years overseas working experience is desirable


We offer you

The position is based in Basel, but will involve travel to project sites (Africa, Asia etc.).

The successful candidate will become part of a multidisciplinary team which is organised in a partici-patory management structure. The position is open as of 1 September 2021, taking into account the usual period of notice of applicants.
