Research and Innovation Services (R&IS) support academic and research staff fulfil their research and enterprise objectives by providing expert advice and assistance in research funding, bid support and management, collaborations with industry and other strategic partners as well as the protection and commercialisation of intellectual property.

The University is ranked as the top UK University for consultancy income and has a number of highly successful enterprise units. We have created more than 28 spinout companies since 2000, three of whom have been floated on the stock market and the University is a founding member of the SETsquared Partnership which has been rated the top university business incubator in the world.

Research and Innovation Services is looking to expand on its consultancy and enterprise capability to meet increasing demand. We are therefore looking for an Enterprise Contracts Officer to join our successful team to support the review, analysis, drafting and negotiation of contract documents for the management of our consultancy and enterprise activities. The role is ideally suited to candidates seeking to expand their contract management or paralegal experience covering activities across a wide range of industry sectors.

You will be part of a team responsible for the contract management support to a diverse portfolio of consultancy projects and our specialist enterprise units. You will also have responsibility for due diligence checks and rights clearance prior to commercialisation of the University's intellectual property. You will possess commercial acumen, pragmatism and a good understanding of commercial contracts to enable deals to be concluded in a timely manner whilst looking out for the University's best interests. Commercially astute and technologically aware, you will work with world-class researchers, entrepreneurs, and global partners and ensure that appropriate legal agreements are put in place, taking responsibility of your own portfolio of contracts.

Educated to HND, Degree, NVQ4, basic professional qualification or equivalent level , you will have strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills, be well-organised with the ability to multi-task and to work well as part of a dedicated team. You will be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment. You will have strong office experience in a customer-focused environment. Experience in working in a similar capacity within the Higher Education sector would be advantageous but not essential.
