The role
This opportunity to establish a new function in legal compliance for research activity has arisen within the Research and Enterprise Division.
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for interpreting legal obligations that affect research activity and implementing appropriate compliance mechanisms such as policies, training and licence applications. You'll provide advice and develop compliance mechanisms in areas such as Export Control, Access and Benefit Sharing under the Nagoya Protocol, the new National Security & Investment Act, but queries may cover many areas.
As part of the new function, you will also recruit, line manage and mentor a solicitor apprentice who will work closely with you.
You should apply if
You are a commercial or regulatory lawyer, looking for an in-house legal position where you can influence the growing agenda around Trusted Research. You don't need to already be an expert in any particular legislative framework, but you should be enthusiastic to learn and apply new knowledge. If you're looking to drive forward a new initiative then we're keen to hear from you.
We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
