The Professor of Practice in Kinesiology will be required to teach coursework in the bachelor's degree in Exercise Science (i.e. Anatomy and Physiology, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Strength & Conditioning and Exercise Prescription) with the potential for additional teaching at the graduate level in programs in Health & Wellness Management and Sport Studies. Additional responsibilities will include recruiting, advising, and serving on School and University committees as needed. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of the Kinesiology program in curriculum development and oversight of the Exercise Science program. The successful candidate will also be expected to work with members of the Tulane community including members of the Tulane Institute for Sports Medicine (TISM) and Biomedical Engineering.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Doctorate in Kinesiology or related field
  • Knowledge and experience in teaching in exercise science
  • Teaching experience in post-secondary institutions
  • Knowledge and experience with exercise physiology and/or biomechanics lab equipment
  • Experience teaching Anatomy & Physiology with virtual labs
  • Experience in developing and working with community partners

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
  • Ability to develop and deliver creative, innovation and rigorous higher education programs
  • Ability to develop and maintain industry relationships that lead to internship and job opportunities for students and graduates
  • Ability to provide quality academic advisement to working adult students.
  • Ability to work well with individuals of various ages and backgrounds

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • PhD in Kinesiology or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience teaching in higher education
  • Experience working in an exercise physiology lab or biomechanics lab
  • Experience with learning management systems, Canvas preferred
  • Experience working with adult learners
