Position/Rank Assistant/Associate/Full Professor DOQ Department 00200 - Nutrition & Integrative Physio City Salt Lake City, UT Track Tenure Track New Position to Begin 01/01/2020 Details The Departments of Family and Preventive Medicine; Health, Kinesiology and Recreation; Nutrition and Integrative Physiology; Population Health Sciences; the College of Nursing; the Gastroesophageal and Bariatric Surgery Section of the Division of General Surgery, the Division of General Internal Medicine, and the Division of Endocrinology at the University of Utah are recruiting several tenure-track faculty members at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank. The successful candidates will have an outstanding record of research productivity on the underlying health behaviors and systems that influence or prevent chronic diseases with a focus on obesity and diabetes including implementation science, behavioral interventions, and health services research. Applicants with PhDs, MDs, or other Clinical Doctorates in a diverse array of disciplines (e.g. Nutrition, Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, etc.) will be considered. The successful candidate will develop an independent, extramurally funded research program and train and mentor graduate students. Dependent on department expectations, some additional teaching or clinical work may be expected. Applications will be reviewed as they are received (starting November 8th, 2019) and the position will remain open until filled. New recruits will maintain a primary appointment in one of the aforementioned academic departments while having membership in the institution's Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center ( DMRC ). The interdisciplinary DMRC strives to unify and enhance efforts of clinicians, researchers, and educators to catalyze innovative research relating to diabetes and metabolic health throughout Utah and the Intermountain West. The center comprises more than 100 faculty across multiple schools, colleges, and departments and supports researchers through the recruitment of research-intensive faculty, distribution of pilot grants, organization of symposia and seminars, and management of training grants. The successful applicant will also have access to outstanding research services (e.g. Utah Population Database, Center for Clinical & Translational Science, etc.), access to clinical data from the University of Utah Comprehensive Weight Management Program and Utah Diabetes and Endocrinology Center, and the ability to leverage resources from the Driving Out Diabetes initiative, a strategic initiative to reduce the burden of diabetes and the associated medical comorbidities of obesity and heart disease through clinical, research, and community engagement programs.
