MSSU Technical Theatre Director
The Missouri Southern State University School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a dynamic, skilled, engaged, and collaboration-minded Technical Director for the Department of Theatre.
Position Responsibilities
This position is a 10-month Master Instructor position in the Department of Theatre. The faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate technical direction courses such as Stagecraft, Stage Design, Technical Theatre, and/or other courses in the faculty member's area of expertise. The Technical Director will provide leadership by mentoring students; fostering collaborative partnerships across the arts and broader campus, and promoting methods to utilize and grow production facilities and other assets in support of research and teaching. The faculty member will work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and guest artists and will provide service to the department and School, such as assisting with student, department, and school-wide related activities, serving on committees, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications
- MFA in Theatre with an emphasis on Technical Direction/Theatre or an equivalent combination of training and professional experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of technical direction of theatrical productions.
- An emphasis will be placed on candidates who are able to help students transition from academia to the professional world.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary technology, equipment, and practices applicable to the discipline.
- Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to collaborate.
- Ability to create, organize, and effectively execute technical production schedules involving many elements and many people.
