The CASNR Statewide Education and Career Pathway Coordinator will contribute to the integrated teaching land-grant mission of the home unit and the IANR, as an effective scholar and citizen, including supporting student.

This position will focus on development of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) learning experiences and coordination of education and career pathways and compacts in partnership with Nebraska schools, as well as other strategic programs aligned with the broader goals of the Science Literacy initiative within the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) at UNL. This position will prioritize engaging middle and high school students attending Nebraska schools. The position will work in collaboration with the LPS/CASNR Education and Career Pathway Coordinator, the Science Literacy Community Engagement Coordinator, Nebraska Extension, CASNR Recruitment Team, and the IANR Science Literacy Community.

Specific responsibilities include:
  1. Coordinate with schools and other organizations to provide STEM experiential learning, immersive experiences, internships, and digital badge programming for 9th-12th grade students (35%).
  2. Partner with Nebraska public schools and Educational Service Units (ESU's) on the design, implementation and coordination of STEM learning (30%): a. Coordinate and contribute directly to the development of innovative and transformative STEM learning experiences. b. Develop associated curricular materials, products, and artifacts to support STEM learning experiences. c. Provide on-going professional development to formal and informal educators. d. Support and contribute to the development of coursework focused on Food, Energy, Water, and Societal Systems (FEWS2) for Nebraska Now. e. Collaborate with faculty and staff in the development and improvement of coursework and STEM educational resources to align with IANR's Science Literacy goals (systems thinking, design and futures thinking, and decision-making).
  3. Provide academic and career mentoring to 9th-12th grade students interested in FEWS2 and student success programming for students enrolled in Nebraska Now courses (20%).
  4. Serve as the liaison between Nebraska Schools and CASNR/IANR/UNL; develop and maintain relationships and collaborate with community leaders, post-secondary institutions, ESU's, businesses, organizations and other internal and external partners to advance our shared goals (15%).
