Engineer I - Quantum Electronic Device Testing

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Conduct electrical measurements of semiconductor quantum-effect devices at cryogenic temperatures. Requires good scientific communication skills, a strong work ethic, enjoyment of problem solving, and a natural scientific curiosity. Assist in electrical measurement system development; use cryogenic test systems; develop software for device testing; analyze samples using automated data acquisition equipment; and organize, update, and summarize measurement results. Requires frequent technical communication with team members, including oral and written reporting.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
Analog and digital electrical circuits, coding, development and use of automated semiconductor data acquisition, data analysis, cryogenic test equipment.

KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:
Basic principles of low-noise, electrical measurement; basic electronic design and analysis; basic computer skills (spreadsheets, presentations, word processing, and scientific programming); statistical analysis; basics of coding, though specific language less important; semiconductor device physics; basic quantum mechanics.

EDUCATION DESIRED:
Bachelor's degree in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, materials science, or related field

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to climb ladders to use elevated test equipment. Must be able to work safely in a laboratory environment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. Citizenship. Must have or be willing to apply for a security clearance.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
