Application Review Date The First Review Date for this job is: June 11, 2021 Departmental Overview The Center for the Study of Child Care Employment (CSCCE), at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment focuses on achieving comprehensive public investments which enable and reward the early childhood workforce to deliver high-quality care and education for all children. To achieve this goal, CSCCE conducts cutting-edge research and proposes policy solutions aimed at improving how our nation prepares, supports, and rewards the early care and education workforce to ensure young children's optimal development. As a result of this work, policymakers and their staff, thought leaders in the field, and other stakeholders use CSCCE's research and recommendations to inform policy decisions that support the early care and education workforce. Responsibilities * Participate in, and lead some aspects of dissemination of research and policy analysis, including, professional presentations, media interviews, participation in sector-based workgroups and committees, and other spokesperson activities. * Manage key aspects of research and policy projects, including human subjects protocols, survey implementation and data collection, and external partner/vendor activities. * Develop new and modify existing surveys and research protocols for large-scale research. * Analyze quantitative and qualitative workforce data, including original research and extant data. * Apply research findings to complex policy issues; develop and co-author policy-oriented publications such as reports, briefs, peer-review manuscripts, fact sheets, and infographics. Required Qualifications * Experience in research related to the early care and education workforce or relevant issues such as K-12 workforce development, wage and/or labor policy, and/or issues facing low wage workers. * Ability to manage competing deadlines with attention to high level of detail and accuracy. * Experience with quantitative and qualitative social science research processes, including, but not limited to developing research protocols, developing online surveys, and analyzing extant and original datasets. * Solid interpersonal skills and communication skills, including exceptional writing skills required. * Excellent computer skills including data management, bibliographic and spreadsheet software, in addition to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, and gather information from electronic resources. * Skills associated with specific survey administration such as Qualtrics. * Demonstrated quantitative skills, knowledge, and experience in data/statistical analysis, including analyzing large, complex data sets, preferrably using SPSS or similar (e.g., STATA, SAS, R, Python). Education/Training: * Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Preferred Qualifications * Master's degree in early childhood education, child development, public policy, public health or related field at the time of application preferred and/or equivalent experience/training. Salary & Benefits This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience.
