No Job Details The Department of Visual Arts at Coastal Carolina University, accredited by NASAD (National Association of Schools of Art and Design), is seeking applications for a full-time position at the level of Assistant Professor in Graphic Design to begin August 2021. The successful applicant will teach a wide range of undergraduate graphic design courses extending from first year through senior thesis in our BA and BFA sequences. Course topics may include typography, identity systems, environmental design, and design history. Demonstrated experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud software is required. Understanding and expression of graphic design should extend beyond technique and application to also include historical context, theory, concept, and process. Candidates must hold an MFA/terminal degree in graphic design/visual communication, undergraduate teaching experience ideally beyond the assistantship level, and preference will be given to candidates with a record of research and professional activity in the field of design. All candidates are expected to contribute to the diversity of our curriculum and community. Salary is nationally competitive. Interview process will be virtual until further notice. The Department offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History, Art Studio, and Graphic Design and the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Art and Visual Communication Design as well as a number of minors.
