Job Summary: The Practical Nursing Instructor is responsible for planning the preparation and execution of classroom and /or laboratory experiences which result in learning. Instructors develop, evaluate and revise the curriculum incorporating evidence-based learning activities directed at meeting established learning outcomes. Instructor monitor and evaluate student performance based on established grading guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Contributes to the overall achievement of the college's mission and goals through effective instruction and classroom management, budgetary planning, and goal setting.
* Plans and prepares for assigned instructional courses.
* Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy.
* Develops instructional outcomes and appropriate evaluation and assessment methods of learning.
* Creates and maintains an environment of good rapport and respect.
* Clearly establishes expectations for learning and achievement.
* Maintains up to date accurate records on attendance and student progress.
* Engages in academic counseling and advisement.
* Meets with current and prospective students for review and accurate interpretation college placement scores.
* Provides guidance to students for academic planning.
* Make referrals to college resources available to provide services or assistance to student.
* Engages in the college community for intra-professional networking and professional development.
* Provides input into budgeting and decision-making processes.
* Keeps abreast of developments in field of expertise basing current instructional practice on recent evidence.
* Communicates learning expectation and varies teaching techniques and incorporates current technology.
* Varies teaching techniques and incorporates current technology.
* Structures classroom activities and assignments based on learning outcomes.
* Provides student written and oral feedback.
* Engages in self-assessment of teaching practices and professional development needs.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

* Thorough knowledge in the field of expertise and teaching techniques.
* Ability to develop lesson plans and design learning activities aimed at achieving student learning outcomes.
* Communicate learning expectations through the provision of structured activities and assignments.
* Ability to instruct, engage students and assess student learning.
* Familiarity with college resources available to provide instruction and services or assistance to the student including instructional technology.
* Ability to provide guidance to students for academic planning.
* Knowledge of placement policies when interpreting placement scores and advising students.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Minimum Qualifications:

*
Current Arkansas State Board of Nursing Licensure as a registered nurse;

*
Bachelors' degree in Nursing required;

*
Recent clinical experience and/or specialty in medical/surgical, maternal child, and pediatric nursing.

Preferred Qualifications:

*
Master's degree in Nursing with Certified Nurse Educator credential and clinical specialty in Peds, OB, and.Med/Surg.

*
Current unencumbered, Arkansas, RN license.

*
Recent work experience.

*
Job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of the degree requirements.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Benefits: Southeast Arkansas College provides 11 holidays, 12 days of sick leave, and 12 days of annual vacation leave each year. The College offers a choice of retirement plan options with employer contributions ranging from 10% to 15.32% depending upon the plan selected. The College also provides a tuition waiver for the employee and dependents.
