The Senior Research Development Officer will be responsible for: providing professional development and proposal coordination for faculty researchers and for providing strategies to develop competitive proposals for biomedical and life science research funding from federal agencies, specifically those under Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health. Required Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
* Four years of experience developing or writing proposals to or for federal, state or private agencies

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Knowledge of National Institutes of Health proposal processes and development and higher education research environment
* Skill in providing strategic review and text recommendations on various funding opportunities to NIH and other federal agencies
* Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

* Ph.D. in biomedical or life sciences
* Research lab and/or postdoctoral experience
* Work experience in medically related or bio and life science research laboratory

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationship

Responsibilities:

Faculty and Professional Development-Research

Creates and delivers NIH Specific Aims Virtual Seminar series and other training as needed for Texas A&M researchers. Follows up with participants regarding NIH grant proposals as needed. Develops and updates templates, tools and guidance documents for use by researchers at Texas A&M University. Reviews professional development opportunities and provides training activities that will enhance faculty researchers' skill levels.

NIH Proposal Development

Leads and coordinates strategic review of Texas A&M University research community NIH proposals, especially those of junior faculty, who are classified by NIH as Early Stage Investigators. Connects researchers to funding opportunities and research resources. Uses knowledge of agency and proposal process to assist faculty researchers in matching requirements of NIH funding opportunity announcements (FOAs) or requests for proposals (RFPs). Ensures that proposals are in clear, concise language understood by reviewers in NIH study sections. Confers with individual faculty regarding the review of previous grant applications, and provide strategy on resubmission.

Multi-disciplinary Proposal Coordination

Serves on RDS team to lead and coordinate research proposal development, including biomedical and life sciences proposal components, for large and strategic interdisciplinary research activities that involve faculty from multiple Texas A&M University departments, centers, and institutes and from other universities. Uses knowledge of the agency and review process to develop competitive proposals. Coordinates activities to create and maintain cohesive working groups.
