Summary

The Department of English and Communication Arts at Hood College seeks experienced adjunct instructors in English composition for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Under the general direction of the Writing Center Director and English Department Chair, adjunct instructors will teach two 4-credit ENGL 100 sections a semester.
* This intensive course in expository writing for first-year students emphasizes the fundamentals of grammar, sentence structure, paragraph construction, and academic essay writing.
* Learning involves three methods of instruction: classroom discussion, a writing laboratory, and tutorial conferences.

Education and/or Experience

* Masters or PhD in English or Rhetoric and Composition (or related discipline) and previous experience teaching composition at the college level required.
