Mosaic Biosciences is seeking an experienced and creative expert in protein/antibody engineering who will drive the advancement of novel therapeutics. The candidate will mentor protein therapeutic-focused scientists, lead a protein therapeutic project team(s), consisting of protein engineers, biochemists, molecular and cellular biologists, and protein-production scientists. Candidate will utilize cutting edge biochemical, biophysical, and cellular assays, as well as develop new technologies to move therapeutic projects forward.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a high performing team of protein/antibody engineers with varied specialty areas including MOA elucidation, computational biology, display technologies, immunization campaigns, protein expression and purification, protein chemistry/conjugation, and analytical, biochemical, and cellular assays.
  • Lead discovery differentiated lead molecules including but not limited to antibodies, multi-specifics, cytokines, fusion proteins, and proteases.
  • Lead discovery differentiated lead molecules including but not limited to antibodies, multi-specifics, cytokines, fusion proteins, and proteases.
  • Mentor and provide scientific leadership, strategic and technical guidance to our growing team of scientists.
  • Responsible for developing new technologies and platforms to stay at the cutting edge of biologics discovery.
  • Drive lead optimization strategies towards optimal developability criteria.
  • Generate tools to participate in target discovery/validation activities.


Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. and postdoctoral work in Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular & Cell Biology or similar fields with 10+ years of industry experience.
  • Extensive experience in engineering and characterization of protein and antibody variants as preclinical leads and development candidates.
  • Ability to lead a high performing multidisciplinary biologics drug discovery team.
  • Expertise in biology, immunology, and biochemistry to design and implement functional and cell-based assays to support technology development, antibody selections, and mechanistic studies is desirable.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team of scientists. Experience in leading complex multi-disciplinary drug discovery programs.
  • Experience with various display technologies (yeast, phage, mammalian). Experience and knowledge of molecular biology, protein expression, purification and characterization.
  • Excellent written, oral, and organizational skills.
