Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for University Registered Nurse temporary positions as they arise. Temporary assignments range from 10 to 40 hours per week.

These University Registered Nurse temporary positions will provide day-to-day coordination of clinical services within the Bloomsburg University Student Health Center.

These positions are considered essential personnel positions.
Examples of Duties: Triage nurse:
* Administer patient care and medications per RN Standing orders.
* Assesses health problems and triages to the Student Health Center Provider or to a Health Provider/ Specialist outside of the Student Health Center.
* Initiates intake process for students utilizing care within the Student Health Center.
* Basic knowledge of computer software.
* Acts as a liaison between CCHD and Student Health Center Medical Director.
* Maintains HIPAA.
* Provides treatment of minor wounds, injuries and illnesses.
* Responds to medical emergencies in KUB.
* Assists in Maintaining the integrity of the emergency boxes monthly and oxygen tanks weekly, also assists in recording daily refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
* Assists student in navigating the Student Health Center website and responsible for maintaining current student health center information on the website.
* Uses secure messaging and telephone communication to speak with student and parents.
* Assists the International Student Nurse, as directed, in reviewing International Students records to monitor compliance to Health Center requirements.
* Assists, as directed, by completing a yearly checklist for the monitoring all positive Tuberculin Skin Tests (TST).
* Administers Tuberculin skin tests, immunizations, Depo-Provera, ECP according to Student Health Center standards.
* Assists the Laboratory Nurse in maintaining the lab by implementing controls when necessary, replacing stock, and monitoring expiration dates.
* Provides Health Education pertaining to problem and treatment. Problem solves and coordinates follow-up care for students when appropriate.
* Is responsible for initiating and completing the closing procedure for the Student Health Center on a daily basis.
Point Nurse:
* Assists Student Health Center providers as they initiate care for students during scheduled appointments.
* The Point Nurse will assist with:
* Gathering patient information
* All medical procedures
* Obtaining and processing in-house and outpatient laboratory specimens
* Dispensing and education regarding over-the-counter medications.
* Monitoring inventory supply and report to Inventory nurse as needed.

* Maintains an on-going electronic medical record (EMR) for each student by screening the compliance forms for health problems and infectious disease.
* Responsible for gathering and reporting statistical data obtained from EMR.
* Assists System Administrator in the Health Center with EMR software program upgrades and changes while providing educational instruction to health center users as needed.
* Assists with computer troubleshooting for Health Center Staff members.
* Assigned to a Student Health Center committee by the Nurse Supervisor.
* Assists with Health and Wellness Initiatives as directed by the Executive Health and Wellness Director and Nurse Supervisor.
* Reviews and updates Student Health Center forms as assigned.
* Reports information from accident reports and crime reports to appropriate BU departments.
* Communicates with outside regulatory agencies as needed.

DECISION MAKING
Is responsible to maintain a knowledge base of the Chain of Command in the Student Health Center and Student Affairs and utilize in the absence or consent of the Nurse Supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Participates in the orientation of nursing staff to their role within the Student Health Center.

Functions as a resource person for other nursing personnel.
Qualifying Experience / Education: Minimum Experience and Training:
A minimum of one (1) year of professional nursing experience is required.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; or possession of a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Maintains educational requirements for licensure and college health certifications or other related nursing certifications.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employees possessing non-renewable temporary practice permits must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

PREFERRED:
1. Two years of professional nursing experience or any combination of experience and/or training which provided the applicant with the below listed Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities.

2. Verification of Healthcare worker CPR certification with ongoing certification maintenance.

This University Registered Nurse position requires knowledge, skills, and abilities of the following:
* Theories and practices of professional nursing.
* Principles and practices involved in organizing and directing the work of others.
* Evaluation of the educational needs of students and participates in the development of programs.
* To express ideas clearly both oral and written.
* To acquire new knowledge, skills, and techniques to maintain proficiency in nursing practice.
* Collaboratively participates with members of the Student Health Center Staff in planning, identifying outcomes, implementing, assessing and evaluating all college health services, if applicable.

Applicants will be rated on the following criteria:
1) Experience working with college populations.
2) Experience with nurse telephone triage.
3) Health assessment experience.
4) Primary care or medical/surgical experience.
5) Two years of professional nursing experience or any combination of experience and/or training which provided the applicant with the above listed Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
6) Verification of Healthcare worker CPR certification with ongoing certification maintenance.
Supplemental Information: Location: Student Health Center
Appointment: Temporary, part-time or full-time (10-40 hours per week). Temporary positions may be extended based on need. Salary depends upon experience.
