Position Summary

The Division of Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, University of Nebraska Medical Center, (Omaha NE) seeks an Academic Oncologist with Thoracic/Head and Neck Cancer Focus.

The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Nebraska, provides the best in science and clinical practice. Through collaboration between the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Oncology/Hematology Division and its hospital partner, Nebraska Medicine, patients experience personalized care based on the latest scientific research. More than 200 oncologists, translational and basic scientists work together fusing science and medicine to align in new and uncharted ways to speed up breakthroughs in the lab and deliver state of the art care to the patients. Patients from all 50 states and more than 42 different countries are cared for. The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center is one of the founding members of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), an alliance of the world's leading cancer centers, working together to develop national treatment guidelines for cancers based on the latest research. The Big Ten cancer centers have united to transform the conduct of cancer research through collaborative, hypothesis-driven, highly translational oncology trials that leverage the scientific and clinical expertise of Big Ten universities. The Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium creates a unique team-research culture to drive science rapidly from ideas to treatment-changing paradigms. Seeking motivated academic medical oncologists or hematologist/oncologist to develop clinical/translational research programs. In addition to clinical care, responsibilities include the organization of interdisciplinary research, design and implementation of clinical protocols, and education of fellows, residents and medical students. Applicants must have an MD, DO or MBBS degree, board certification in Internal Medicine and be board certified/eligible in medical oncology and/or hematology. Academic position dependent on qualifications.

Genitourinary Malignancies, Gastrointestinal Malignancies, Thoracic/Head & Neck Cancer, and Melanoma/Skin Cancer. Candidates will have a focused interest in clinical care and clinical research for patients with GU malignancies including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and renal cancer; GI malignancies; Lung and head and neck cancers; or Melanoma and skin cancers The successful applicant will participate in the multidisciplinary clinical care of patients and the design and conduct of cancer clinical trials.

Required Qualifications

MD, DO, MBBS or equivalent.
Board certified in internal medicine, Board certified/Board eligible in medical oncology and/or hematology.
