Research Assistant to the SARChI: Marine Natural Products in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology (Part-time post) Approx. 3-year contract

Requirements

A relevant BSc Hons Degree (Chemistry, ideally with organic chemistry) plus approximately 2 years relevant experience where such experience includes: -
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting which includes technical support in the fields of MNPs chemistry.
  • Previous experience preparing samples for and analysing by HPLC, LC-MS, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy.
  • Research outputs sufficient to demonstrate a keen understanding of the research process.
  • Previous experience working within a computerised administrative environment. Working knowledge of spreadsheets, plus familiarity with word-processing, e-mail, and the internet is essential. Good computer literacy, including a sound understanding of word processing and various software packages with applications for various scientific analyses.

Remuneration

Research Assistant (part-time post):

Cost to Company Approximately: R191,429.25

Basic Salary Provident Fund: R140,389.20
