Western Michigan University, Bronson School of Nursing and the College of Health and Human Services, Kalamazoo, Michigan is seeking an outstanding leader for the position of the Bernardine M. Lacey Endowed Chair as a full professor. The Endowed Chair will support and develop scholarship at Bronson School of Nursing, mentor faculty and students with the goal of advancing the nursing profession and the future of the school. This position offers an established faculty member a unique opportunity to cultivate research of the next generation of nursing leaders and develop a legacy through program and clinical site development. This is an academic term position renewable yearly for up to three years.

Criteria: Earned research doctorate in nursing or related field; master's or higher degree in nursing; current Registered Nurse (RN) license with eligibility for licensure in Michigan; achievements commensurate with rank of Full Professor, including a record of success in securing extramural funding and strong research agenda; leadership experience in nursing education at graduate level; ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and health care professions, especially those represented within the WMU College of Health and Human Services; commitment to the mission, values and philosophy of the WMU Bronson School of Nursing; background and experience working with diverse populations; record of community engagement desired; and experience in developing a graduate nursing program desired.

Responsibilities: Collaborate with other Bronson School of Nursing (BSON) faculty members to obtain external research funding; promote scholarship by facilitating faculty and student research at BSON; serve as a member of the Director's Leadership Committee and Graduate Program Committee.

Opportunities: Collaborate on DNP program development; grant writing, philanthropy and fund raising to expand the graduate program; advance own program of research and practice; opportunities to teach in areas of expertise; and develop community partnerships.

The College: The College of Health and Human Services is located in a 195,000 square foot building with state-of-the-art teaching technologies and spacious research laboratories. The college enrolls almost 3,000 students, with more than a third of those at the graduate level. In addition to the WMU Bronson School of Nursing, the college includes programs in blindness and low vision studies, occupational therapy, physician assistant, social work, speech, language and hearing sciences, holistic health care, alcohol and drug abuse, interdisciplinary health services, public health, doctor of physical therapy and a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary health sciences. The college has received a number of grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the Department of Education. The School: The WMU Bronson School of Nursing is a vibrant school that focuses on the scholarship of teaching, research, and service. In addition to the Director of the Bronson School of Nursing, over 18 full-time faculty and 25-30 part-time faculty provide instruction and experiences for prelicensure, Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN), and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) students. The total enrollment includes over 300 undergraduate students and a cohort of MSN students. The WMU Bronson School of Nursing is granted full approval by the Michigan Board of Nursing. The undergraduate and graduate programs are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
